About

Girls Weightlifting is a Varsity Sport offered at Nease High School during the Winter Season. The weightlifters compete within their weight classes against other high schools in the area. These contests are called meets, and consist of the Snatch, Clean & Jerk and Bench Press. A lifter’s heaviest lifts are added together to make a total. In each weight class, the heaviest total earns points for their school, and the school with the most points wins the meet. The athletes compete at different meets throughout the regular season and Nease will send representatives to the District Competition. After the District Meet, the strongest athletes will be invited to compete at the Regional Meet and then the State Meet. This sport is a great opportunity for students to get involved with a school team, gain confidence, and get stronger at the same time.
